How Can Blogging Make Money Using Adsense?
Almost every day on various message boards or Blogs you will see a common question, “How can Blogging make money?” Many people get in to Blogging because it is a convenient way to write about subjects that they know about or want to promote. After a while once the Blog has taken on a certain character and established a direction, then it becomes a pretty normal thing to want to earn a little income for your efforts.
There is nothing wrong with that. Do not think that if you start to advertise products on your website or Blog that you will lose readership. That does not happen. As a matter of fact, most people expect some sort of advertising. You are certainly allowed to reap a little benefit for your efforts.
So once you have decided to run some ads then what to do? Well there are various ways that you may want to try. I say try because this business of Internet Marketing is a constant effort of testing, testing, testing.
One easy way is to insert some ad blocks of Google Adsense text ads. You will need a Google account, then use the simple set up procedure to select the size and type of text block ads and Adsense will generate the html code that includes your advertiser account number and you copy that block of code over to a text box section on your Blog. You will want to experiment with different size ads that will match your Blog layout and you may also select different color schemes.
Now as your Blog is published Google analyzes the information on your website and decides what the theme or subject matter is of your Blog and will automatically generate ads for products that their computer determines would be a good fit for your Blog. Some times the fit is not appropriate and there are ways to block certain advertisers but generally speaking the ads do match what you are writing about.
These Adsense ads are Pay Per Click ads in that if someone reading your Blog sees an ad of interest and clicks on it you make a little money. You must NEVER click on your own ads, or have any of your friends or family members click on any of your own ads. Google wants it to be a natural thing and they do have ways of knowing who clicked, and if it was out of real interest or a case of click fraud. Do NOT under any circumstances do this, take my word for it. If you do click your own ads you will be banned, your funds will be seized and there is no negotiation.

Ya know, I think we are in full agreement on these details. I recently posted a comment on BloggingQuestions in answer to a question about Yahoo Publisher and I sort of got fired up and started ranting about crappy ads that Adsense serves up. You can read the post here: http://xr.com/z0m .
Elsewhere on that site I explained that if you are using Adsense or affiliate ads that you should shoot for number one in the serps. If you have a high powered well known Blog and want to sell direct ad space on your own site, then you should shoot for the highest GPR and lowest Alexa numbers.
This article here that I wrote was for the beginner that is looking for some way to get started in mmo. You will note that I do not use any Adsense on this Blog.

Arrived here from Mason’s blog, and I would like some more things about making money from Adsense if you don’t mind.
Anyway, I think most bloggers are afraid to clutter their ads thinking that they are annoying the readers. Actually, they are if you don’t need them.
So, if bloggers really want to try Adsense they should work hard to be on the first page of Google. This is where searchers are, who are looking for something to click whether it is an ad or not.
By the way, hope you also don’t mind if we have the same name.

If you’re going to monetize your blog with ads though, really do it. Don’t just put a small ad here and another at the bottom of the fold. Put a lot of ads, but have variety too, so they’re not all in your visitor’s face.

Dan, with me it is all about testing. I keep trying different size and styles of ads until I find something that seems to be working.

This is a really nice post about Google Adsense. You have explained everything really well.
But no matter how much you emphisize not to click your ads, new bloggers still do it.

I know that people do click on their own but they are taking a very big risk. I would never do it, nor do I ever ask anyone to do so. To lose it all for a few pennies would be stupid.

Yes Rich, to lose it all for a few pennies is stupid, but new bloggers, they don’t know that Google basically owns the internet, and they can catch you. You know that Patience is Key, but the new bloggers don’t know that. And since they don’t have patience, after, let’s say 5 days, the think that clicking on them won’t hurt their blog. So what do they do? They CLICK THEM. The next thing they know, they got an email from Google Adsense Team. If it’s the first offense, Google might let them go without banning them, so what do the new bloggers do next? They ask other people to click on their ads.
But this time, Google will have no Mercy.

Write about your passion. If you write about something in which you have no interest, you’ll likely lose interest fast. Even if you don’t, your readers will notice your lack of enthusiasm in your writing.
