Twitter Me This
Every business needs a Blog. Period!
If you are a blogger you should also use Twitter. Why? Simple, it is the single easiest way to find birds of a feather. You know that they fly together, right?
By using the Twitter search bar or better yet use the real Twitter search tool at search.twitter.com which will give you far better search metrics, you will be able to hone in on people (tweeple) in your niche of interest.
What this means is that you will be able to mix it up with like minded users that will either be selling something in your niche or interested in buying something in your niche. Of course it probably runs 99% former and 1% latter, but either way there is a chance to create a buzz.
Personally I do not use the Direct Message (DM) feature because it is just 99% crap auto messages that say thanks for the follow, I am the best… blah, blah, blah. DM’s totally useless. I do use the @ mention feature a lot and the RT (retweet) of other messages of interest. The RT also gives some link juice to the 1st twirp.
Twitter now has an RT symbol that they just introduced and for the life of me I see no use for it, but hey, who am I? Needless to say Twitter is a great tool for connecting up with others and to promote your latest posts which of course say how great you are.
I check my stats often and every day there are at least some visitors that found my sites through Twitter. Some is better than none.
Have you been experimenting with all the Twitter apps that come along? Well I have tried many, not all of course because I do have a life after all. When you try one and then you decide to not use it any more, then by all means go back and disable it.
I did not disable one app some where along the line and for the life of me I do not know which one it was because I could never find out, but one app that I had experimented with evidently auto followed after a certain time period. I would check my settings and the apps that were installed did not seem to be the culprit but I was determined to stop it.
So I wanted to change my password figuring that would keep any unwanted activity from being able to access the account. The password that I had in my notebook did not work so I had Twitter send me a password change authorization. I used my Twitter user name to identify myself. Day or two later noticed that it was still auto-following. Then I tried changing the password again but this time instead of using the username I registered with my email.
Success! The auto follows have stopped. So be careful about letting others have access to your Twitter account. So many of these apps require your user name and password. Do you really want to do that? From now on, no one, or no app gets access to my account. Period!
