Cure Your Blog Code HTML With The Niche Doctor

Filed under: html — rich @ 5:34 pm

This is a quick post to tell you all about how the Niche Doctor is curing my Blog Code HTML.

The Niche Doctor Starter Kit, and The Niche Doctor Park Page Theme:
The two products announced on Garry Conn’s Blog that are being provided by the Niche Doctor are worth their weight in gold!

Garry knows WordPress inside and out.  He teamed up with the master cyber coder, David Cooley to bring you two fantastic tools that will make you money, absolutely!

When I read the announcement two days ago I immediately purchased both the “Niche Doctor Starter Kit” and the “Niche Doctor Park Page Theme” for WordPress.

The reason I bought the Park Page Theme was because I have many dozens of domains that I bought over the past year, some of which were great ideas at the time, but now that I know more, not so good.  You’ve all done the same thing, I’m sure.

NameDrive Free Parking:
I thought about parking some of these unused domains at GD (you know what GD really stands for right?,) GoDaddy, but the bas***ds want 10 bucks a month.  Then I found out about NameDrive and parked a dozen of them there about three months ago because it is free, and if there is any advertising revenue generated you get a share of it.

Well forget that.  Three months and not one cent of advertising revenue.  So with the Niche Doctor Park Page Theme you can have your domain up and running with a keyword pumping minimum blog code html design and then you can put some AdSense on and then see what happens.

Keep Unused Domains, or Not:
When it gets near renewal time you can decide to either let the domain go, or you can sell it if it looks promising, or you can develop it if it looks real good.  This is a GREAT idea!

The Niche Doctor Starter Kit for WordPress:
So that is what the theme will do but other than testing it out on one website I can not put this Niche Doctor Starter Kit book down.  I have learned more in two days than I had in almost a year as far as how to fix my HTML code.  The instructions that Dave and Garry give on how to optimize your Blog for the search engine bots and also for human consumption are just superb!

One client that I do some website management for is blown away.  I brought his five year old broken website up to modern times about four moths ago, and then added a Blog.  Then I have been tweaking things and trying to get him to come to the front of the pack in G-serps. We went from total obsurity four months ago to #215 +/- about two weeks ago, where it has been hovering.

Once I inserted two adjustments that I learned in the Niche Doctor Starter Kit prescription, I brought that client site up to Number 3 in Google for his keyword/money words in less than 24 hours!  Yikes!

The Niche Doctor will cure your Blog Code HTML.

You Should Purchase These:

Now what I want you to do is to

I am a WordPress Butt Boy!

Filed under: Main Posts, domaining, mmo, social — rich @ 4:10 pm

There, I’ve said it. No apologies.

A year ago you would not have been able to force any level of computer programming down my craw. That is actually still the case. I HATE programming!

I was a Blogger Blogging Blog aficionado. I owned a full featured authority website in a certain field that had been active for many years, that was built by a professional company using Joomla! I had a strong user base and still do. That site led me to wanting to be able to have a more casual connection with my fans and users, so therefore I Blogged using Google’s Blogger.

I never thought about actually being able to make money off this thing called the Internet. Man, what a mistake. I will tell you that I am not one of those Eureka Kids that made a gazillion dollars, er, not yet anyway, but there is a steady stream now that I never dreamed would happen in my life time. It can only get better.

So I forced myself to learn how to install WordPress, purchase domains and hosting and build websites. You will recall that I wrote about this previously in another post: Make Money Create Blogs for your Neighbors

Well this is an update. I have built way over a hundred websites and with each one there are new challenges and new things to learn and accomplish. It seems to me that Matt at automattic probably knew what he was doing when he unleashed this fabulous free software to the world, but I could not see it at the time. Now I get it.

The old way of creating a website page by page in an editor, then uploading and debugging it are over. This Content Management System (CMS) that is open source, (as in Free,) is something that almost anyone that can dial a telephone is able to learn a little at a time. This is causing a world changing event that is progressing even as you read this.

I still figure that it takes about 40 hours to bring a site to it’s full value with all the little features and goodies that you would want, but it actually only takes a couple of hours to install the rough content of a website that even if someone were to fall off a barstool and come up on this domain by accident, it would still look like a real web site.

I have set up sites now in fields that I know almost nothing about, but they can be populated by the new owners in just a matter of minutes, well OK hours. I have built sites in cars, sports, health, history, medicine, saw mills, machine tools, hunting, camping, scouting, sales, bargains, credit, wine, geo based (like city names,) travel, dogs, weddings, antiques, art work, collecting… Get the picture?

You can do this too. Make a few bucks setting up sites for your friends, families, neighbors, and local businesses. You can do it!

First and foremost, in my opinion, is get yourself comfortable with using an ftp program. I held out on that one, and realize that was my weak point. I had played around a little with file transfer protocol in the late 1980’s. That is when I grew to hate programming. Well the ftp programs of today are not your typical father’s ftp program. There’s dozens of them and I’m not going to try to influence you with one over the other. They all do the same thing. Join a forum. Google the Hell out of any questions you might have. The ftp program will be your new best friend.

If you are just starting, pick a domain registering hosting company, (not GoDaddy,) buy one of their cheap programs, and get started. Sure the cheap ones will have you parked on a Tinker Toy server, but you get what you pay for. You can always upgrade, which you will soon do.

I now pay for hosting with three companies, two average ones with average services and bandwidth, and one super duper one that costs more that I ever thought I would pay anyone for anything, almost. But the Damn thing works and never is down. I recently struck gold with setting up a news story related website that I was able to get in on the first floor with. As an early adopter with a keyword rich url and dozens of posts, I am on the first page of you know who in just one week. I haven’t started to monetize this site yet, but I will after a while. With any luck you will be reading future posts, say in a year or so, from the South Sea Island pictured above.

Most of all, read good Blogs in the mmo field to get the impetus to get off your butt and get going. Join some forums, take some online courses, and learn from those that have been successful. I have been doing all of the above for only eight months. Now I are not quite an expurt, but I’m gaining on it.

Here is my recommendation for one of the very best programs on the Internet, and I am not even going to use my affiliate link, I believe in this man and what he does so much that I want you all to join. Like TODAY!

Yaro Starak! What a great name! This guy is unforgettable by having a name that is so like poetry that it will make you want to change your name. But that is not the reason to remember him best by. You absolutely MUST join his Blog Mastermind program! He just started one up again a few sessions ago. You will not have missed anything because all of his mentoring sessions are recorded and downloadable to the students.

You will be tied in to a Blog Mastermind forum, where you can post questions and get real excellent answers from those that know their stuff. You will be tied into a major group with a well known company, that will give you a way to help other students with social networking and to receive the same in return. That in itself is almost worth the price of admission. You want traffic? You can’t handle traffic…! (Oh no, that was from an old movie, I think.)

How’s that for a rant?

It all starts by learning WordPress. It’s not just for Bloggers you know.

I’m Rich!

Make Money Create Blogs for Your Neighbors

Filed under: Main Posts, mmo — rich @ 3:12 pm

MoneyNow that you know how to build a WordPress website, why not put your talent to work and make some extra money?

Look around your neighborhood and talk to storekeepers and manufacturers that you know. Ask them if they have a website? If they do ask them if they have a Blog?

The normal answer to question number two is, No. They may tell you that they can’t be bothered, but in reality it is probably more like they are scared to Hell to get into it figuring they would make some serious blunders and do not want to look like an idiot.

That’s where you can put on the salesman’s cap and give them your best pitch.

A Blog is DYNAMIC. It is ever changing with new content and the Big G (and other search engines also,) just LOVE new content.

With new content the client/customer will be able to impress their readers with new products, discount sales, special promotions and so on. Their Blog sites will get indexed much more often then their old canned spam static website.

Here is where you put on your techie beanie. You will build them a website or Blog and customize and fine tune it to just what their needs are. You already are friends with all of the plugins and themes and bells and whistles that you have struggled to tame, and now it should be cake to implement all of just the right ones for this project.

How do you make money?

Well let me tell you how I do it. Offer to work cheap, say fifty bucks an hour. Most web design companies have to charge $150-$200 per hour to cover their costs, overhead and profit. You won’t have much of an expense and the work is going to be done in your spare time, and it will keep you out of the bars anyway.

I figure a minimum of 40 hours is needed to set up a site from the ground up. That’s name, registration, hosting, and miscellaneous minor expenses. Then you will work with the client to design a system that suits them and you will keep getting input from them as you are building it. They usually do not have any idea what they want until you show them what you have in mind, and then they might get the design juices flowing themselves and feed you with a bunch of good material.

So after a couple of weeks of spare time and about 40 hours invested you should have a half dozen or so articles posted and the client should easily be able to take over the posting. If not, then you might be able to continue posting, say a minimum of a couple of times a week for X amount of dollars on a continuing basis.

I have done this a few time so far and to date I have never drawn any of the above named rates, but I make sure to let the client knows what a great deal they are getting even with my low rate. Here is what I do for payment. Think about what the client has a lot of that could be worth something to you. I have taken goods in trade, and I have also negotiated a commission payment or piece of the action, which you will have to try to negotiate yourself. Most people in business are willing to give it a try if they do not have to actually fork over hard earned cash.

I know it works for me. My customers are thrilled with the results, and they are on their happy Blogging way!

Go for it…

Webhosting Made Easy

Filed under: Main Posts, mmo — rich @ 2:41 pm

This article might as well be called “Webhosting For Dummies“. It really is easy to get on the web with your own website.

My Internet publishing experience started about 1990. I had no idea what I was doing, but came from a technical and industrial business background, so the web was understandable with a little study. I published mostly hobby related interests at first.

A few years ago I wanted to put up a business related website that would look professional, which I knew would be way beyond my expertise. So I shopped around and was very fortunate to find a small company near Ithaca, NY., “S-GO Consulting,” operated by Steve Gorney and several other geniuses. I can’t say enough about this team. They have been with me through all of the various website design changes that I kept making before I finally arrived at just exactly what I wanted.

They built one of our main websites with Joomla!, which is an open source programming language that I am required to know absolutely nothing about! S-GO does it all. Tell them what you want and it’s done, exactly the way you want.

They also afforded me enough hand holding training so that I am now able to make minor modifications and it is very easy to add new data. However, if I have any questions they are right there.

It costs a couple of thousand or so, to build a great site to a custom design, but worth every penny. They give you a very generous bandwidth allotment and they are instantly responsive to any problems. Don’t let the price scare you. If you have some firm ideas, ask them for a quote and I am positive that they will be very competitive. S-GO is not “just” a hosting company. They are Marketing Experts, and will help you with your overall marketing plan in all media and even have the expertise to assist you with writing your Business Plan.

This commercial will not benefit me in any way, but it sure will benefit you if you decide to go with www.s-go.net .

Now if you are an old hand at website building and management, or if you are a consummate Blogger, Podcaster, or Internet publisher in any manner, then you might just want some recommendations for web hosting packages that we use for our many sites.

As you no doubt have heard about the recent fire at “The Planet,” a web hosting company in Houston, Texas, that calamity brought down thousands of websites for a week end and some of them are still trying to recover.

That’s why we don’t put all of our eggs in one basket. We use three other web hosting companies along with S-GO, and they are; GoDaddy, BlueHost and HostIcan Website hosting is very competitive now and where it formerly took commitments of thousands of dollars per year, you can now have very professional hosting services for a little over $100 per year.

We recommend all three of these fine companies and you can trust them all to be very eager to assist you in answering any questions or immediately fixing any problems.

GoDaddy is very well known and popular. The only problem I have when signing on to their website is to keep my mind off Danica Patrick in leather! Their signup procedure is easy to do once you have learned the procedure. Their design is extremely busy and they want you to keep clicking more and more to buy, which I find annoying, but there is always a link somewhere on each page to just keep skipping by and going to the checkout page.

BlueHost was recommended to us by Caroline Middlebrook, one of our favorite Internet Marketing Blogging friends. BlueHost is solid, and their website is clean and very easy to navigate. Prices are very fair and they will help you all the way with your installation.

Our other Best hosting company is HostIcan. This company also has a website that is very easy to use and you can be set up in minutes with a brand new website. Their rates are as low as $6.95 per month with a free domain name FOR LIFE!

All of these hosting companies offer high end packages for large companies or organizations that need huge amounts of data, bandwith, and redundancy. By clicking any of the links on this website to take you to any of the companies we recommend, you will be able to pick just the perfect plan that fits your needs and budget.

Click on all three of these recommended web hosting companies and compare their services for yourself.

GoDaddy.com Hosting Sale

We recommend using WordPress and select a theme that you like, install the plugins you need and make your presence known on the web. In a previous article that we wrote there is a LINK to Caroline Middlebrook’s free eBook on how to install WordPress.

Beware of Geeks Bearing Gifts

Filed under: mmo — rich @ 1:06 pm

Beware of Geeks Bearing Gifts.
(sub-title: captcha, gotcha, betcha.)

Free contest giveaways. Free products just for entering. Free eBook downloads.

You no doubt have seen all of these phrases and many more that are similar. Are they a scam? Will you get ripped off?

Well sometimes, but not always. Chances are pretty good in the Blogging world, especially in; Make Money Online (MMO,) Search Engine Optimization (SEO,) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM,) fields. Why not?

The reason they are not usually scams is because the professional writers in these fields would be screaming out about them being phoney baloney!

That said, there is certainly power in numbers. RSS subscribers are important to Bloggers and website publishers, as they show the advertising world that their particular site has a good following and is a worthy place to spend some of their oh so valuable advertising dollars at.  Traffic is King.  Subscribers mean revenue.

But what they REALLY WANT, is your email address. Now we’re talking real power. You have answered one of the giveaway contest announcements. You signed up and used the captcha tool to prove that you are not a robot, and then you clicked on the confirmation email link that the contest website told you to. (Math equation,) captcha = gotcha!

It wasn’t very long ago that marketers didn’t have to worry about SPAM mailings and you would get inundated with a few good offers mixed in with myriad listings of Junk Mail. Thanks to current American law it is illegal to send unsolicited email, and thanks to various email software programs, most of those junkie offers go into your spam folder. There you can review and delete forever, or through attrition they will simply just go off your system after a certain time period that you have set.

Once you have subscribed, used captcha, and confirmed, you are now Fair Game! If the contest promoter is smart, and most are, they still will not send you SPAM, because you are now a valuable commodity and they would not want to risk losing you.

You have gone through various gyrations to tell the conference promoter that you exist, you are real, and YOU DO respond to offers on the Internet!

These marketers build email lists of people that are known to respond to Internet advertising. Chances are the marketer will explain in their Privacy Policy that they Will never give your email address to anyone! Hmm… Did they guarantee that, or better yet, did they guarantee that they will never SELL your email list? Not likely. These mail lists are worth their weight in gold.

All of the above is to just call your attention to the fact that marketers want your email address. You may choose to give it to them or not.

Now do I enter contests and download free eBooks, and give up my email address for what appear to be pretty good deals? You betcha! Some of these deals are very helpful. The information given is extremely valuable.

My writings on the Internet for about ten or so years have not been in any of these Make Money Online fields. Programming has never been anything that I ever cared to learn. I marveled at the ability of these digital poets and hired them as employees to convert my wants and wishes into personal computer tools and utilities that could be used for every little thing my heart desired.

Well I am retired from the business world and I discovered that I could make some extra income by creating websites and Blogs in subject fields that I knew something about, gain readers and followers, and then do some advertising on my sites.

Starting with free templates and free hosting on freewebs.com, then Googles’ Blogger, it started to become a natural thing.

The money trickled in.

Then it seemed as all the Big Kids used WordPress! So I got a free account on WordPress.com and built a couple of sites, then realized I would not be allowed to monetize them, so I downloaded the WordPress program, bought some domains from GoDaddy, and then tried to wiggle this software into submission to do what ever I wanted. Halt!

It isn’t exactly easy, unless you are already a Geek and understand programming.

So, after subscribing to many different RSS feeds, mmo Blogs, and dozens of Internet marketing sites, I realized I was just going to HAVE to learn how to do this stuff myself.

The best thing I did was to download Caroline Middlebrook’s eBook, How to Develop Money-Making Niche sites with WordPress.

It is free at http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/

After reading many WordPress articles, blogs, how-tos’, and listening to all of the WordPress podcasts that I could find, it all still was gobble-de-gook, until Caroline Middlebrook took me step by step and explained the simple facts along the way, as to just how to get this software installed and running.

By learning the steps of each installation and plugin implementation it gives you confidence to be able to seek out new themes, new plugins, and it all starts to come together quite easily. Programming is still a mystery to me, but it was rather thrilling to figure out how to make a line of text appear as BOLD. That should explain my level of programming expertise.

Well here’s the deal. You do not have to be a programmer. If you are, it will be much easier for you and you will be able to tweak things into shape for each project you are working on. Do not let programming inexperience stop you from putting up some websites and Blogs. Follow Caroline’s instructions and it is easy!

Now as for me, I’m off to some Geek sites to register for some Free Gifts!
