Is TipDrop.com a Twitter Killer?
Chalk up another hit for Jonathan Leger. I wrote about Jonathan in a previous post where I recommended Automated Legal Backlinks as a method of building back links to your website. Well now Jonathan has come out with a new service that is sort of Twitter like with a specific twist.
TipDrop.com is a free site that you can register at, get a username and password and then start dropping tips on what ever subject that you know things about that you want to share with others. Everyone is knowledgeable in something and you are no exception. You certainly know specific things about your job, your family, your hobbies, your website, your niche category and dozens of other categories that you excel in and that you would be willing to share with others and the quid-pro-quo is a backlink to your website.
Just like Twitter you keep your tips short and concise and right to the point. State your tip and go on to the next one. TipDrop.com is new and has had very little publicity yet. Jonathan said today that he has just made a deal with an International press release company to kick off a major news announcement campaign.
He also states that in the first 24 hours this brand new website achieved 150,000 page views! Wow! Just think what a major advertising campaign will do for it. The idea that you can add your two cents to help other people and in return you get traffic to your own website is a win win situation.
From the latest email that I received here are the steps to take to get started:
1. Create a free account at TipDrop.com
2. In your user settings, setup links to your web site.
3. Post quality tips on subjects you are knowledgeable in.
That’s all there is to it! When people read your great tips and
visit your profile page, they’ll be able to click-through to your
web site.
What could possibly be easier? I do not see this as a Twitter killer, but it absolutely positively will become massively popular. You should get in on the ground floor and start dropping your tips. Sign up now for a free account on TipDrop.com
Keep track of my posts about tipdrop.com on Twitter. My user name on both Twitter and TipDrop are the same so follow me: linkmoneydotorg.

They are working to grab the twitter business but i feel twitter is way bigger than that

Well maybe they have that dream but I agree with you that there is no way that could happen. I’m wondering though if maybe they are just thinking of a similar system, but different. In tipdrop case people just randomly input tips on any subject and elicit response from the masses.
I suspect if tipdrop really catches on that it will just become another source of information and could become very useful. It seems to me that it is more like a wiki that Twitter, don’t you think?

TipDrop seems to have a more purposeful focus to it from the get-go. You go there specifically to post or read about TIPS so already it is encouraging niche-knowledge-specific posts, which will be a huge draw for niche-marketers, especially
TipDrop is already monetized and has offered a share of adsense revenues as an incentive, so I think it’s going to take off… if it does it will be interesting to see Twitter’s response, even if it doesn’t grow as big as Twitter.

David, good points.
The fact that TipDrop can make money for themselves and the tip submitter is a bonus.
It seems as though they have a good chance of gathering many users.
Thanks for the comment.

I think twitter is lot easier. You can see anyone web link in their profile with a small description. Twitter killer is a sentence of advertising, killing twitter is not only hard but also impossible.
Only positive think on tipdrop is, this is dofollow site and allow you to use more than 1 link in your profile. However, if anyone think about advertising, a minor traffic may worthy.
