Twitter Me This
Every business needs a Blog. Period!
If you are a blogger you should also use Twitter. Why? Simple, it is the single easiest way to find birds of a feather. You know that they fly together, right?
By using the Twitter search bar or better yet use the real Twitter search tool at search.twitter.com which will give you far better search metrics, you will be able to hone in on people (tweeple) in your niche of interest.
What this means is that you will be able to mix it up with like minded users that will either be selling something in your niche or interested in buying something in your niche. Of course it probably runs 99% former and 1% latter, but either way there is a chance to create a buzz.
Personally I do not use the Direct Message (DM) feature because it is just 99% crap auto messages that say thanks for the follow, I am the best… blah, blah, blah. DM’s totally useless. I do use the @ mention feature a lot and the RT (retweet) of other messages of interest. The RT also gives some link juice to the 1st twirp.
Twitter now has an RT symbol that they just introduced and for the life of me I see no use for it, but hey, who am I? Needless to say Twitter is a great tool for connecting up with others and to promote your latest posts which of course say how great you are.
I check my stats often and every day there are at least some visitors that found my sites through Twitter. Some is better than none.
Have you been experimenting with all the Twitter apps that come along? Well I have tried many, not all of course because I do have a life after all. When you try one and then you decide to not use it any more, then by all means go back and disable it.
I did not disable one app some where along the line and for the life of me I do not know which one it was because I could never find out, but one app that I had experimented with evidently auto followed after a certain time period. I would check my settings and the apps that were installed did not seem to be the culprit but I was determined to stop it.
So I wanted to change my password figuring that would keep any unwanted activity from being able to access the account. The password that I had in my notebook did not work so I had Twitter send me a password change authorization. I used my Twitter user name to identify myself. Day or two later noticed that it was still auto-following. Then I tried changing the password again but this time instead of using the username I registered with my email.
Success! The auto follows have stopped. So be careful about letting others have access to your Twitter account. So many of these apps require your user name and password. Do you really want to do that? From now on, no one, or no app gets access to my account. Period!

you are right everyone having a website have ti use twitter. this also helps to connect with other people in your niche.
Hello!
I think that u could say that about twitter about a year ago or so, but I don’t htink you can say that anymore because twitter is now a place full of scammers. That’s just my opinion though,
Good point but I find that it is very easy to unfollow the scammers.
For instance I follow very few people that use the default Twitter logo.
I unfollow all sex and try to keep the get rich quick twirps out of my list of people that I follow.
Every time I see a tweet come through I don’t like, I unfollow them.
Then there is a pet peeve of mine, if you use an animated logo, you are banished. Period. but that’s just me. \grin/
thanks for the comment.
Twitter is good for niche traffic to your website. I agree we can unfollow any spammers from our list anytime, but it is a great source to drag traffic for us. I have a good experience with twitter, so my vote is for twitter.
I would add picture to my profile now so that no one gets confused with the default Twitter logo i have.
Good idea on the photo. It just looks more professional than the default bird logo.
Thanks for the comment.

I should also disable apps’ ability to access my Twitter account, too, actually as my Twitter is my business account and it would be kind of horrible if something I don’t agree with is posted to my account… and auto-follows drive me nuts! I think that may have happened to me before!
Good thinking Melanie.
The past few days it has been very comforting to see that others do not have control of my Twitter account. Now I follow who I want to when I find something interesting.

Twitter is a great place to get traffic you do it right and don’t look like a spammer. Don’t use anything automated and do it all manually.
Manual is the only way. You can connect with the readers better also.

Twitter is perhaps only site after Google, I rely more in term of traffic. I have 4000+ followers and everyday many of them visit my site. I recently decide to unfollow lot of useless people. May be this weekend going to be judgment day. Another thing is, it’s always better to do thing yourself than using any script because they can use your account.
It is a good thing to remove useless followers. Many will just follow that are just scmmers or sex related. I delete all of those that I can find.
I can’t imagine not using twitter if you’re a blogger or have a website of any kind, either. And I agree with you, one must be very careful before giving away their password to twitter just to use an app. One must choose very wisely. Finally, I also don’t auto follow. I am surprised at the amount of people who do…
Good point but I find that it is very easy to unfollow the scammers.
Yes, but another thing I think of is that I want people that follow me to feel safe in also following any of my followers. So I keep culling my followers list from time to time. I doubt there will ever be a way to eliminate the spam, it is the nature of the web, but I can at least try to keep my little chunk of it clean.
Thanks for your comment.
